Please tell us briefly about your company.
Renaissance Publishing, publishes New Orleans Magazine, Louisiana Life, St. Charles Avenue, New Orleans Homes and Lifestyles, On Stage and New Orleans Bride as well as many custom publications for outside companies.
So why did you join EO and how long have you been a member?
I am a new member who joined to grow personally and professionally.
How did you come up with an original idea for your business?
I
started the business post-Katrina to purchase media properties from the
parent company I was running and had a small equity interest in. When
we develop a new product we look for a niche not being served and work
to bring life to that niche.
What do you like best about your business?
Everything.
How much money did you have to invest to start your business?
All my savings and more!
What are your current annual revenues and number of employees?
We currently have 30 employees and do $4 million in revenue.
What is your proudest accomplishment(s) to date in your business?
Starting the business post-Katrina and giving my employees the ability to be creative and do great work.
When did you first realize you were going to be an entrepreneur?
As I was growing my business career I took great interest in doing deals and thrived on it.
What is your greatest accomplishment in your entire life?
My marriage and family
Why do you think you have been successful?
I focused on a mission and I hired great people.
What is something that most people don't know about you?
I graduated high school when I was 16.
What is something you hope will be written about you in your obituary?
That I always focused on doing something for others.
Who has the biggest influence on your life?
My wife.
If you could spend an entire day with one person who would it be?
My kids.
What advice would you give to young entrepreneurs?
Focus on what you want, never give up and think positive.
How long has your company been in operation?
Since February 1, 2006.
What lead you to EO?
I had heard of it before, but Ryan Berg introduced me to it in 2007 after I became an owner of Renaissance Publishing.
