Despite Global Meltdown, Indonesian Entrepreneurs are Amazingly Optimistic


PRESS RELEASE: FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE 3 SEPTEMBER 2012 DESPITE GLOBAL MELTDOWN, INDONESIAN ENTREPRENEURS AMAZINGLY OPTIMISTIC Despite of the global economic instability, Indonesian entrepreneurs show amazingly strong optimism in comparison with their global counterparts based on a Global Entrepreneurs Indicatory survey conducted by Entrepreneurs’ Organization (www.eo.or.id) in June 2012. 69% or two-thirds of entrepreneurs in Indonesia increased in number of full-time employees during past six months counting from June 2012 compared with global average of 59%. 63% of entrepreneurs in Indonesia will increase the number of full-time employees in the coming 6 months, compared with international average of 62%. These numbers indicates that Indonesian entrepreneurs are very confident of the economy and will strengthen the labor market and employment rate in Indonesia further in comparison with their other global entrepreneurs. In line with the growing Indonesian economy and middle class markets, 85% of Indonesian entrepreneurs saw their revenue grow in the past six months, in comparison with global average of 68%. 88% of Indonesian business owners predicted that their revenue will increase in the next six months, in comparison with global average of 80% 75% of Indonesian entrepreneurs say that their net profits increased in the past 6 months, in comparison with global average of 60%. 77% of Indonesian entrepreneurs predicted that their net profits will increase in the next 6 months. With the help of lower interest rates for loans, 40% of entrepreneurs in Indonesia said that their debt load increased in the past 6 months and 52% said that their debt load will increase in the next 6 months, in comparison with global average of 26%. Aggressive offers from various funding institutions also cause 54% of Indonesian entrepeneurs’ business’s access to capital increased the past six months and 58% of them are confident that their access to capital will increase in the next 6 months, in comparison with the international average of 31%. Most amazingly, 81% of Indonesian entrepreneurs predicted that Indonesian economic environment will improve in the next 6 months, in comparison with global average of 33%. While the rest of the world entrepreneurs are pessimistic about their countries, Indonesia is blessed to have some of the most optimistic entrepreneurs in the world with 96% of Indonesian entrepreneurs said that they would start a new business, in comparison with global average of 80%.
