Charleston set to welcome hundreds of entrepreneurs

Charleston, SC (Sept. 9, 2019) - More than two years ago, Entrepreneurs’ Organization (EO), a global network of more than 14,000 business owners, selected Charleston as the location for its NERVE event. Ironically, around the same time, several Charleston-area business owners were working toward starting a chapter of the international membership-based organization for local business owners. Fast forward to the present day, and more than 800 entrepreneurs from around the world have registered for NERVE and last month EO Charleston officially launched its chapter with 16 founding members.

EO Charleston will host a happy hour on Sept. 25 at Stars Restaurant to welcome EO leaders and NERVE attendees to the Holy City. The event will happen from 5:30-7:30 p.m. Local entrepreneurs interested in joining EO can also attend to have an opportunity to speak with the founding members, as well as EO members from chapters around the world. In order to qualify for membership, entrepreneurs must have a business generating at least $1 million in gross revenue. Attendees will need to register in advance by visiting eocharleston.org/nerve-rsvp.

NERVE is an annual multi-day learning event designed to help EO members learn and grow as business leaders. Former Ford Motors CEO, Alan Mullaly, will be the keynote speaker. Attendees will hear from world-renowned business leaders at locations such as The Dewberry, The Mills House, and Hibernian Hall. Several local businesses are hosting attendees to provide a closer look at all Charleston has to offer, including guided bicycle tours, walking tours, a visit to Firefly Distillery, a tour of Nucor Steel, visits to Fort Sumter and the U.S.S. Yorktown, among others.

“The timing for NERVE and the launch of our chapter is exciting,” said John LaVerne, owner of Bulldog Tours and one of the entrepreneurs who spearheaded launching an EO chapter in Charleston. “If you are downtown the week of NERVE, you will most definitely be aware that EOers are in town. When you have that many successful minds in one place at one time, it’s hard to miss.”
