EO Lahore Hosts 2020 EO GSEA Pakistan National Competition
Student of the University of Management and Technology to Represent Pakistan at GSEA Global Finals
Alexandria, Virginia, USA (25 February 2020) – The Lahore chapter of Entrepreneurs’ Organization (EO), the world’s leading peer-to-peer network of successful business leaders, has announced Ali Khursheed, a student of the University of Management and Technology as the Pakistan national winner of the Global Student Entrepreneur Awards (GSEA).
GSEA is EO’s premier awards program for students who own or operate a business while attending college or university. The qualifier competition hosted by EO Lahore this year saw the participation of nine students from eight universities across Pakistan. Student entrepreneurs competed against peers and were judged by prominent entrepreneur judges including Zeeshan Aftab, Managing Director 10Pearls; Ahmed Uzair, Partner AUC Law; Hassan Farid, CEO Pak Steel; Shafique ur Rehman, CEO RMI Hospitals; Shehryar Sheikh, CEO Pak Group; Asher Khan, CEO Commtel; Mohsin Jawa, CEO Wanguard International; Anees Khawaja, Director Mahmood Group.

Ali Khursheed, Founder, Aabshar now makes his way to the GSEA global finals taking place in Cape Town, South Africa from 26-28 April 2020. Speaking about his win, Ali said, “I am proud to be representing Pakistan at the GSEA finals and I look forward to highlighting our solutions for water conservation to a global audience.”
His company AABSHAR provides Water Optimizers that are installed as add-ons to taps enabling a reduction of water waste of up to 98%. In addition to saving water, the optimizers also help save electricity being used by water pumps and controls sewage overflows.
Ali earned a total prize package of PKR500,000 from the national competition. Saliha Aslam, Smart Mirror Labs Pvt. Ltd., the 1st Runner-up received PKR200,000 and 2nd Runner-up, Syed Usman Shah, Suii Dhaaga received PKR100,000.
National rounds of the GSEA competition are currently underway across the world with over 1,200 student entrepreneurs competing in total. In addition to networking and mentorship, global finalists stand a chance to win US$25,000 in cash if they achieve first place, whilst 2nd and 3rd place runners up will take home US$10,000 and US$5,000 respectively.
