Entrepreneurs' Organization (EO), the world’s leading peer-to-peer network of successful business owners has announced the names of 54 student entrepreneurs who have competed their way to the finals of the Global Student Entrepreneur Awards (GSEA) this year. The stage is now officially set for the final competition being hosted by the EO Toronto Chapter from 14-16th April, 2018.
GSEA is EO’s premier awards program for students who own or operate a business while attending college or university. This year saw a total of 1500 student entrepreneurs participate in local, national and regional level competitions worldwide. Student entrepreneurs first competed against peers locally and 54 finalists each representing their home countries will now battle it out at the finals taking place in Toronto, Canada.
Sharing her thoughts on the upcoming finals, Carrie Santos, CEO of EO, said, “Empowering student entrepreneurs with the right skills and resources is our way of building strong foundations for future economic growth. The EO GSEA competition is structured in a way to help these young business leaders learn and grow, personally and professionally to become influential change-makers across the world.”
Stephen Shortt, GSEA Global Chair further added, “We have seen some truly phenomenal businesses being run by our participants this year. It’s inspiring to see the range of needs and solutions the businesses cater to, some of which bring direct positive impact to entire communities as well. Our mission through the GSEA competition is to give these student entrepreneurs the opportunity to accelerate their success and connect with a global peer group they can lean on and provide support to.”
Talking about EO Toronto’s preparations for the global event, Jeff Lem, GSEA Chair, EO Toronto said, “We are proud to welcome all of the amazing student entrepreneurs who have made it to this year’s EO GSEA finals. We also have an exemplary line-up of judges including last year’s winner, Julian Rios Cantu, CEO Higia Technologies; Joel Fernandes, CTO & Co-Founder of Startup Grind and Peter Thomas, Thomas Pride, Founder & Chairman, EO Chairman Emeritus. EO GSEA keeps getting bigger every year and the global representation of participants creates a unique learning experience we hope will encourage them to fearlessly reach greater heights.”
