Member Spotlight on JIMMY NUNNALLY
Principal, Nunnally Pollard Development, LLC

Interview conducted by Winnie Hart, Communications Director

Please tell us briefly about your company.

Nunnally Pollard Development, headquartered in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, is a real estate company involved with brokering, consulting, acquiring and developing residential and commercial property. Our recent focus has been the development of upscale conventional subdivisions and well-located Traditional Neighborhood Developments.

Why did you join EO and how long have you been a member?

I joined EO because of its objective of sharing entrepreneurial experiences and meeting top notch business people from our area, as well as around the world. I have been a member since January 2009.

What do you like best about your business?

Providing people with the setting for one of their most personal and largest investments, their home.

When did you first realize you were going to be an entrepreneur?
When pre-med really did not appeal to me in my freshman year at Millsaps College.

What do you feel is the greatest accomplishment in your entire life?

Meeting my wife Donna, selling her on spending her entire life with me and having the two most precious daughters in the world.

What are your greatest personal strengths?
Confidence and the ability to say 'no' to a project.

Why do you think you have been successful?
Because each of the projects we have developed are office parks and neighborhoods we would move into in a second.

What is something that most people don't know about you?

That I was kicked in the head by a horse at age 3 which required 60 stitches and provides me with the perfect excuse if a business dealing does not go in a satisfactory direction for the other party.

On a lighter note, what do you do for fun these days?

Spend as much time with my two girls as possible.

Got anything big coming up on the horizon for you personally or with business that you want to share?

We are about to release the first phase of our residential lots and commercial-retail component for The Village at Magnolia Square, a TND (Traditional Neighborhood Development) located in The City of Central, Louisiana. It will eventually include 510 residential units and 65,000 square feet of commercial-retail space, including a book store with coffee shop, specialty grocery store, restaurants, wine bar, fitness center, day care, etc., all within a 5 minute walk of most of our residences. Other amenities will be an amphitheater with periodic entertainment scheduled, two stocked lakes, several parks with sports & play equipment and a Great Lawn for farmer's markets, art exhibits and other gatherings.

What advice would you give to young entrepreneurs?

Be patient and keep your operating expenses in check.
