FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Student Entrepreneur Winner Announced - to represent Columbus in Entrepreneurs’ Organization (EO) National Competition Columbus, OH – January 14th, 2016 – The Global Student Entrepreneurs Awards (GSEA) hosted a Regional Competition on Thursday, January 14th at 3:00 PM at Ice Miller Law Firm. GSEA, a program of the Entrepreneurs’ Organization (EO), is the premier awards program for student entrepreneurs. GSEA provides students the opportunity to form lasting relationships with students and the VIP entrepreneur judges. Over the years, participating students have gone on to create thousands of jobs and generate millions in revenue. Last year’s winner of the Columbus Regional competition, Daniel Goldberg, went on to win the U.S. National competition and compete in the Global finals. This year’s winner was Peeyush Shrivastave of Genetesis, a student at The Ohio State University, beat out 3 other student competitors. Peeyush started his business in a garage, developing hardware and software to detect and treat cardiac rhythm disorders by creating functional, 3D mapping of each patient’s personal electrophysiology. The other student competitors included: Michael Ragsdale, University of Cincinnati, Bailout Systems Claire Coder, Ohio State University, There's a Badge for That Nugeen Aftab, Ohio State University, Hatch Startups Eligible students are currently enrolled as an undergraduate student of a recognized college or university. Students need to be primarily responsible for the operation of a for-profit (revenue generating) business that has been operating for no less than six (6) consecutive months. Students had a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to be mentored by local entrepreneurs and present their entrepreneurial journey in front of a panel of experienced judges. Peeyush Shrivastave was awarded $10,000 in cash and prizes and will be sent to compete at the U.S. competition in Miami, Florida on March 2-3. If he wins the national competition, he will attend the GSEA Finals in Bangkok, Thailand to compete with the world’s top student entrepreneurs and have a chance to win over US$400,000 in cash and donated business services.
