Governance Coordinator (HQ in Alexandria, VA)

The Governance Coordinator will provide support on assigned governance projects and oversee the Path of Leadership program that fall within the governance realm.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

> Provide administrative and project management support to the Vice President of Governance.  Functions include, but not limited to the following:

  • o   Manage monthly governance committee calls and record and distribute its minutes
  • o   Update and distribute the EO Charter Documents, including Bylaws and Policies and Procedures.
  • o   Maintain shared filing system by uploading current documents
  • o   Maintain database of EO model agreements and EO Board archive of history and documents as needed.
  • o   Manage special projects such as policy analysis.

> Support the administrative process of Path Of Leadership.  Functions include, but not limited to the following:

  • o   Create and maintain an automated system to track potential candidates for leadership. 
  • o   Support Leadership website, accuracy of information and maintenance
  • o   Assist with maintaining spreadsheet/database of applicants
  • o   Accurately report ratification requests for Global Board review
  • o  Other duties as assigned

Job Requirements:


  • - Bachelor's degree
  • - 2+ years' experience in an profession office environment
  • - Ability to demonstrate a high level of confidentiality
  • - Strong written and verbal communications skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with staff and members
  • - Strong experience working with Microsoft Office/Excel
  • - Excellent organizational and time management skill


  • - Bachelor's Degree with 3 years' experience
  • - International experience a plus
  • - Non-English language skills a plus
  • - Experience working at a non-profit membership organization

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, walk, talk, and hear.  The employee is frequently required to use hands to finger, handle and feel objects, tools, and controls.  The employee is occasionally required to stand, reach with hands and arms, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, and crawl.  Required to occasionally lift and/or move up to  lbs.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision and abilities to adjust focus to read and type documents on a computer screen.

Additional hours may be required during periods of heavy workload.  Flexibility is required in the daily work schedule to accommodate tasks

The employee is normally required to work in a high-rise building equipped with elevators in an environment where the noise level is usually moderate. 

May be assigned to an internal work space without windows to the outside, located in close proximity to other office personnel. 

Professional workplace where business and business casual attire is required.

Ability to work in a fast pace and high pressure environment.
