Alexandria, Virginia (25 April 2014) – Today, the Entrepreneurs’ Organization (EO)—the world’s only peer-to-peer entrepreneurial organization—announced that it hit the 10,000-member mark for the first time in its storied 27-year history, a milestone that serves as a testament to its growing impact, influence and reach in the lives of leading entrepreneurs around the world.

Since its founding in 1987, EO’s membership has increased dramatically, with members and chapter locations around the world. EO member companies now generate a combined US$565 billion in annual revenue and employ more than 2.2 million people. Much of the organization’s recent growth can be attributed to the successful launch of several new chapters in thriving global markets, including EO Punjab, EO Ecuador, EO East Africa, EO Kuwait, EO Argentina, EO São Paulo and EO Chesapeake Bay. EO continues to expand its global presence, while driving entrepreneurial growth from the ground up.

“This membership milestone is a testament to what entrepreneurs with a global mindset represent, and what we offer as a global thought leader on entrepreneurship,” said Rosemary Tan, EO’s Global Chairman and an EO Malaysia member. “Reaching this mark in our young history showcases the intrinsic value of, and need for, a peer-to-peer network of entrepreneurs who yearn to engage, experience share and become stronger leaders in business and beyond. EO helps them do just that, as we celebrate our 10,000th member and look toward our next membership milestone.”

In celebration of this membership milestone, and in support of its member leadership, EO will hold its yearly Global Leadership Conference (GLC) in Athens, Greece, from 7-9 May. The conference, which will unite more than 1,000 entrepreneurial leaders from dozens of countries, is designed to galvanize entrepreneurs in their pursuit of enhanced leadership skills, perspective and awareness. EO’s global events are exclusive, invitation-only gatherings for members to share experiences and insights that can guide their businesses and everyday lives. EO also recently released its Global Entrepreneur Indicator (GEI), a twice-yearly survey of leading entrepreneurs from around the world. Results from more than 5,500 entrepreneurs worldwide, whose businesses average US$59.7 million in annual revenue and 232 employees, concluded that, despite economic uncertainty, entrepreneurial firms continue growing. More than half of entrepreneurs surveyed reported having created full-time jobs in the past six months, while nearly three-quarters expect to create full-time jobs in the coming six months.
