19 July 2012 – Local student entrepreneurs can vie for a chance to compete internationally for cash prizes and publicity in a competition held by the Detroit chapter of the Entrepreneurs Organization, a global business network based in Alexandria, Va.

The first EO Detroit Global Student Awards will take place Aug. 22 at the Grosse Pointe Yacht Club. The competition is part of the Global Student Entrepreneur Awards held since 1999. It is open to college and high school students who have owned their own businesses for at least six months.

This year is the first that Detroit’s chapter will participate in the competition. Competitors from throughout Michigan are invited, said the Detroit chapter’s competition organizer Ken Cauley.
