28 February 2012 – I am tired of being called a “woman entrepreneur”. I am an entrepreneur. And I happen to be a woman. I also happen to be from Canada, happen to think in big ideas and happen to be 5’6". My gender is just one part of me; it does not define my entire identity and it definitely won’t get in the way of my business goals.

Each of us is dealt a certain hand—we all have disadvantages and advantages. In the last 50 years, so much of the career conversation has been centered around the disadvantage that women have in the business world. To be perfectly honest, being a woman has been both an advantage and a disadvantage in my career—but so have my beliefs about money, my psychology education and my Canadian “niceness.” Everything that is true about anyone can be both an advantage and a disadvantage.
