Every day around the world EO members are doing cool, exciting, innovative and responsible things. This rotating feature will showcase our members and their initiatives to grow their company, pave new business paths and give back in the name of making a difference.
Helping Adults with Disabilities
An avid philanthropist, EO Los Angeles member Douglas Pick was recently honored with the “Partner for Independence Award” by New Horizons, a non-profit organization that helps adults with developmental disabilities. Pick provided jobs to more than 220 clients in New Horizons’ workshop program. This was the first time in the organization’s history that a customer, and not a volunteer or staff member, was recognized for his exemplary commitment and dedication.
Enriching the UAE Region
Innovation breeds success. Just ask EO UAE member Rabea Ataya, CEO of Bayt.com, the Middle East’s number one job site. Bayt.com was recently recognized as “Company of the Year” at the TECOM Investments Pearl Awards. The online company was judged by its innovation, adaptation to the UAE market, overall performance, investment in people and contributions to the local economy. As part of their vision to give back to the communities they serve, Bayt.com launched several community outreach initiatives and is regularly involved in charitable projects that enrich both the community and the world.
Luxury in a Down Economy
EO New Zealand member Jacqui Spice has achieved acclaim during these turbulent economic times. Jacqui’s luxury lifestyle business, Touch of Spice, has been named as one of the top villa vacation rental companies in the world by Condé Nast Traveler. The Queenstown-based resort was one of only 49 villa rental agents best qualified to match its readers with suitable holiday properties. According to Jacqui, the recognition is a testament to the hard work that’s been put into the company by her team and shows that the luxury tourism market is growing despite the economic situation.
The Health of a Country
EO St. Petersburg member and president of VELLE Sergey Vykhodtsev was recently awarded Ernst & Young's "Entrepreneur of the Year" award for his outstanding ability to turn an unusual idea into a successful project. Sergey’s company is engaged in the development, production and promotion of a special bio-oats product. All of his business projects are based on the use of innovative ideas and know-how, which can be successful not only in Russia, but also across the world. By producing natural and wholesome foods, Sergey is caring for the health of his fellow countrymen and people in other countries.
